Simone Green is a photographer who worked for Death Row Records during it's heyday. On January 13, 2012 she will be releasing a new book "Time Served On Death Row Records: My Days and Nights" at Hue-Man. The book chronicles both the good and bad that came with being associated with the most powerful and controversial record label of it's time. "At Death Row Records there was more good times than there was bad, but when the bad came it kind of made you forget about the good times," she said.

Every once in a great while I come across an extraordinary piece of fiction that serves as a valid passport into the private and intimate interior terrain of its author. Makeda is one of those special works of fiction. The Schomburg kicks off its new season of Word Rapport: building bridges and relationships between authors, books and YOU. In collaboration with Hueman Book Store, please join New York 1's Cheryl Wills and professor and author Randall Robinson as they discuss his new novel, Makeda. Part coming-of-age story, part spiritual journey, and part love story, Makeda is a universal tale of family, heritage, and the ties that bind. Free! For registration, go towww.schomburgcenter.eventbrite.com or call (212) 491-2040.
